Spring Break Safety Tips

Have you started making your Spring Break travel plans yet? The unofficial holiday is just weeks away and accommodations are booking up fast! If you’re like many Americans, Spring Break is the perfect time to reconnect with family after months of busyness with school and work obligations. However, the most important thing to remember when planning any trip is to take extra precautions for safety! At Empire Rent A Car, our customers’ safety is paramount. So, as you head out this spring, heed these safety tips and have a great time!

Protect Your Location

In this age of sharing anything and everything on social media, we encourage you not to share your location while on vacation. Not only does that information tell strangers where you currently are, it also tells them where you aren't. This information can be dangerous in the hands of criminals who may target your home while you're away. If you have children, sharing your location might also put them at risk from unwanted contact from strangers, or even kidnapping.

Practice Safety in the Sun

If you're traveling to a tropical location like Florida, chances are the sun is much stronger than what you're used to. Also, remember that water reflects the sun, so extended time in the pool or on the beach will mean even more sun exposure. Be sure everyone in your group is applying SPF every 30 minutes and after each swimming session. If you can, try to avoid direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, and keep babies under six months out of direct sunlight altogether. Finally, wear sunglasses, hats, and protective clothing – like rash guards for kids.

Drive a Reliable Car

Nothing ruins a road trip like car trouble. Before you head out on your Spring Break road trip, check your car's battery, inspect all belts and hoses, top off the fluids, and check your tire pressure. If you find that your vehicle isn't roadworthy or you just don't want to put extra miles on it, rent a reliable vehicle from Empire Rent A Car.

At Empire Rent A Car, we provide affordable and reliable cars, vans, and SUVs to the residents of NYC and the surrounding boroughs. Contact us today at (718) 353-6848 to make a reservation, or book online anytime.
