Plan the Perfect Vacation in NYC

Summer is a great time of year to visit New York City. You don’t have to deal with the mounds of snow or bitter cold of winter. You can enjoy checking out the animals in the Central Park Zoo, or just enjoy shopping (or window shopping) in Manhattan. No need for heavy coats or bulky layers. As you think about what you might like to do or see on your trip to NYC, consider these few vacation-planning tips from our crew at Empire Rent A Car.

1. Make your wish list.

As you do your research on what to do in New York, Brooklyn, Queens, or the other boroughs, make a list of what sounds fun and exciting. There's so much to do, so you will need to prioritize what you'd most like to see and experience while you're here.

2. Price it out.

After you know what your dream trip to New York might look like, it's time to get realistic and know the numbers. Price out your car rental, accommodations, attractions, airfare, and so on. Be sure to consider taxes, fees, and food as well. You need to know the numbers to determine what's realistic for your vacation budget. Depending on what you want to spend, you may need to narrow down your options or opt for that compact car rental instead of a luxury sedan.

3. Look for deals.

You can almost always find online coupons, promo codes, or special offers by scouring the Internet or calling vendors directly. Check to see what you might qualify for, or look for vacation packages through travel websites or deals through Groupon. Never pay full price if you don't have to.

4. Ask a local.

Do you know a friend who lives in NYC? Maybe a relative? Try to find someone who knows NYC well, and ask for the lesser-known hot spots in New York City. They'll likely have some great insights on where to eat or how to find cheap Broadway tickets. While you want to see some of the big tourist attractions, it's also fun to pretend to be a local.
