Discover Brooklyn Bridge Park

Whether you’re from NYC or here visiting, you’ve certainly heard of the Brooklyn Bridge. Since connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn in 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an iconic part of New York history and architecture. Many people who visit NYC make sure to plan a trip across the bridge—but why not go a step further? If you’re interested in the Brooklyn Bridge, then our staff at Empire Rent A Car also recommend that you spend some time at the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

About the Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park is an 85-acre area along the East River. Once an industrial area, the park is now under development and dedicated as a green space and place of activity for Brooklyn residents and visitors. Compared to the nearby Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge Park is very much in its infancy stages. The park first opened in 2010, and since then, has introduced a number of fun and family-friendly activities to the area, including:

  • A greenway to walk, jog, or bicycle
  • Multiple playgrounds
  • Rolling green landscape to relax, play, or picnic
  • Gardens to explore
  • Shuffleboard
  • Basketball courts
  • Handball
  • Bocce ball
  • Roller rink
  • Seasonal kayaking
  • And much more

You can easily come to Brooklyn Bridge Park and stay for a lazy afternoon or an entire day, all with the beautiful New York skyline as your backdrop to fun.

Getting There

Depending on where you're coming from, you can easily take mass transit, the East River Ferry, or water taxi directly to the park. However, if you have a rental car and prefer to drive yourself, then you can find some metered parking spaces not far from Pier 2 or take advantage of nearby paid parking lots (the closest is near Pier 6).

Brooklyn Car Rental

We hope you enjoy your time in Brooklyn as you explore the park and the historic Brooklyn Bridge. If you need a rental car while you're in the city, contact Empire Rent A Car at (800) 750-8782, or make a reservation online anytime. We have a car rental location right in Brooklyn, and we can help you find the right car, SUV, minivan, or passenger van to get you where you need to go.
